Kerry is ‘wunderbar’ in Berlin

-

A MAJOR drive to attract more German tourists to Kerry in 2018 was underway last week at the world’s largest travel fair, the ITB in Berlin – all in a bid to grow Ireland’s share of the important German travel market.

Thirty Irish tourism companies – including Kerry Airport, Muckross Park Hotel & Spa, Parknasilla Resort & Spa and Sneem Hotel, joined Tourism Ireland at the fair.

Germany is the third-largest market for tourism to the island of Ireland and in 2017 we welcomed around 660,000 German visitors.

“The large representation of our tourism partners from Ireland at ITB this year was extremely welcome – and essential in the highly competitive global marketplace. Germans who are interested in taking a holiday which involves sightseeing and local culture remain our core audience,” said Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland.

“We are also targeting people who engage in outdoor activities while on holidays. ITB provided an excellent opportunity to spread the word about the many great things to see and do in Kerry, along the Wild Atlantic Way and elsewhere in Ireland.”

The five-day ITB travel event in Berlin provided a valuable opportunity for Kerry’s tourism sector to network, negotiate and exchange contracts with the influential international tour operators and travel agents in attendance.
