Rás Mumhan crown heads to Waterford as Hennbry claims the yellow jersey

-

CONOR Hennerby from Portlaw in County Waterford and representing the Viner / Caremark / Pactimo team claimed overall victory in the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan when the four day race finished in Killorglin on Monday. But in the final analysis, seconds only separated the top six on general classification after four days of racing which started on Friday.

Overnight the 25-year-old held a two second advantage on Toby Atkins of the Active Racing Team based in England. Admittedly Hennerby had excellent support from his team who marshalled his safety throughout the final stage over 115 kilometers which started and finished in Killorglin (Puck Fair fame).

“I may have won the overall, but credit has to go to the team who only a couple of months ago were formed. The groundwork for the overall win was put into action after the stage on Sunday which took in infamous ‘Coom on Easpaig’ climb which ended the aspirations of many. My stage win into Waterville,” was the icing on the cake said Conor as he was surrounded by friends and supporters in the ‘Square’ in Killorglin.

The final stage was won by Joury Ottenbros of West Frisa in Holland in a sprint finish. This was the second stage win of the event for the team who have yet to claim overall victory in this premier event on the Irish calendar,
