Nothing to separate Tarber t and Scar taglin in stalemate

-

Tarbert 1-11 Scartaglin 1-11

NOTHING to separate either side here at either half-time or full-time but Scartaglin needed a late point from Sean Horan to keep their hopes in their own hands as they left Shannon Park with a share of the spoils. Sean’s brother Eddie gave Scartaglin the early impetus with a goal on the 10 minute mark after both sides had traded opening scores.

Tarbert came back into the game more towards half-time however as Ger O’Sullivan and Shane O’Connor managed to find some scores but trailing 1-4 to 0-5 approaching half-time, O’Sullivan converted a spot-kick to put Tarbert in front with saw Scartaglin’s Denis O’Mahoney receive a black card for the foul the penalty was awarded for.

A Shay Walsh free saw the sides go in level at 1-5 apiece however as Tarbert scored the first two points of the second period before a good Eddie Horan point from play left just a point between the sides. Tarbert still held on to a two point lead entering the final 10 minutes as Ger O’Sullivan brought his personal total up to 1-5 but Walsh left Scartaglin back within the minimum until Sean Horan’s late intervention.

Only six players, three each for either sides, registered scores in a hard fought encounter as both still are very much in control of their chances heading in to their second games, but both must win to make the point earned for the draw count.
