MCCARTHY’S PAR is very much the focal point of Killarney Golf & Fishing Club where it successfully meets the needs of club members and also the general public who enjoy quality and marvellous facilities in stunning surrounds. The restaurant caters for upwards of 120 people and with ample parking space it’s now a popular destination for Sunday lunches.
Run by Geraldine and David McCarthy, the bar and restaurant provides a comfortable atmosphere for patrons who can unwind while enjoying quality food in a pleasant atmosphere. Assisted by an excellent team of staff, Geraldine looks after the front of house duties while David is the head chef who runs an efficient kitchen with an evolving menu. David is an experienced chef having worked in the UK for many years and also at The Laurels in Killarney for 10 years.
“We offer a stunning lakeside dining option to people whether it be a meal or a relaxing drink,” said Geraldine. Food is freshly prepared each day and is locally sourced with a selection of roasts every Sunday. A new menu will also be launched in the coming weeks; one designed to offer a greater variety of food options. Set menus are also available for special occasions.
Geraldine added: “As well as the members we also cater for Communions, Confirmations, Christenings and private functions - all overlooking the beautiful scenery the region is renowned for. We find the blend of golfers and non-golfers creates a lovely, welcoming atmosphere as it’s not exclusive to any one group. It’s also extremely spacious and is very popular for meetings and functions as well as social events. We have a great team that is friendly and enthusiastic which adds even more to the diner’s experience.”
