Castleisland take Under 14 title from Abbeyfeale
UNDER 14 WEST MUNSTER LEAGUE PHASE 2 FINAL Abbeyfeale 0 Castleisland 21
THE Castleisland Under 14 team claimed the West Munster League Phase 2 title with a comprehensive victory over a spirited Abbeyfeale side at O’Dowd Park, Tralee last Tuesday evening.
The game was an entertaining contest and the large vocal crowd was treated to some excellent attacking rugby. The foundation for Castleisland’s victory was laid in the first half where tries from Donal Daly, Patrick Fitzgerald and Mark O Connor were all converted by the flawless Donal Daly.
Castleisland have one game left in the season when they will play the West Munster Cup Final in the next few weeks. A win in this competition would mean that this talented bunch of players will have gone unbeaten for the season.

THE only score of the game came from a penalty kick by Joseph Sheehy in the first half.
Defences were on top for both sides, but Castleisland / Abbeyfeale broke through in the 50th minute only for their touchdown to be disallowed. Castleisland / Abbeyfeale had great performances from Eoghan Leahy, Jimmy Kelly, Patrick Leen, and Kevin Lenihan.
Castleisland / Abbeyfeale now go forward to West Munster Cup Final.
MUNSTER JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 2 Crosshaven 61 Killarney 24
KILLARNEY’S time in Division 2 of the Munster Junior league came to an end last weekend when a ruthless Crosshaven outfit ran in nine tries past the visitors. It was always going to be an uphill struggle for the Killarney side as Crosshaven needed a big win to secure the Division 2 title.
It was 42-10 to the home side at halftime. James Allman, Brendan Fuller and Brian O’Sullivan scored tries for Killarney and Fuller kicked three conversions and a penalty. This result will see Killarney relegated to Division Three next season.
WOMENS QUALIFYING LEAGUE DIVISION 1 FINAL
TRALEE came through an epic battle with Ballincollig to claim the Division 1 League title.
The game finished level at 17-17 each at the end of normal time but Tralee dug deep to claim victory after extra time. Tralee were captained by Maura Collins and had stand out performances from Siobhan Fleming, Riona Kennedy, Muirne Wall and Norma O’Connor.
Representative Action
JJ Hanrahan started at full back for Munster in their 39-22 victory over South African side Southern Kings in the Guinness Pro 14 League.
Hanrahan put in an impressive performance and produced a bit of magic when he set up Calvin Nash for his first Munster try.
Munster now lie in second place in the Pro 14 Conference table and travel to play third placed Toyota Cheetahs next Friday evening.
Meabh McElligott and Rebecca Reilly of Listowel ladies RFC starred for the Munster Under 18 sevens side at the interprovincial tournament in Mullingar last weekend. The two girls will take part in the next 7’s tournament this weekend in Lucan.
Kerry had three representatives on the Munster Under 18 schools team that played Canada in a friendly last Thursday evening in Thomond Park with Darragh Fitzgerald of Rugbai Corca Dhuibhne, Donal Geaney of Casleisland RFC and Conor Sheehan of Casleisland RFC representing their province.
