AFTERNOON OF PRAYER
Janice and Moss Carrig will again be present for an afternoon of prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglin on Sunday next April 15th. The Prayer afternoon will commence with the Rosary as usual at 2.30pm and everyone is welcome.
HANDED DOWN
The final Handed Down of the current series takes place on Saturday April 21 when Bryan O Leary will welcome special guest Billy Clifford to Scartaglin and we will hear about the legacy of music he inherited from his mother Julia , father John and his uncle the great Denis Murphy.Guest musicians on the night include Aidan Coffey ex De Danann and Eoin O Riabhaigh ex Stokers Lodge . Our singer is Nora Rice from Camp and we have young musician Kirill Healy from Kilcummin and from Templeglantine Sisters Emma and Marie Flynn. This is our last fundraiser before World Fiddle Day on Saturday May 19.
95TH BIRTHDAY
Congratulations and all best wishes are extended to John Joe Tangney of Coolnageragh who celebrated his 95th birthday on Saturday March 31st. John Joe is still hale and hearty and can recite poetry and recitations with amazing clarity and memory and is a wonderful example of antiageism and is an unique character indeed. We wish him many more birthdays and good health and happiness for the future.
MOBILE LIBRARY
Kerry County Councils mobile Library will visit Scartaglin village on this Thursday April 12th from 9.45am to 10.15am. This is a valuable service and it’s also free.
TROCAIRE BOXES
Now that the season of lent is all over for another year its time to return Trocaire Boxes either to the sacristy in each of the churches in the parish or to the parish office in Castleisland.
GAA LOTTO DRAW
Scartaglen GAA Clubs next Lotto Draw will be in Kearneys Bar, Castleisland on this Saturday night April 14th when the jackpot will be E3,000.
CLEANUP DAY
Saturday next April 14th is County Clean Up Day for the County of Kerry. Many people will be involved in cleaning up their own localities. Scartaglen Development Group are seeking volunteers to pick up rubbish around the locality and particularly picking up rubbish from roadsides in the area. Anyone interested in helping out, should report to the Heritage Centre on Saturday morning next at 9am. Gloves and refuse sacks will be issued to those participating and all help and support will be greatly appreciated.
