The Boys are back on Sunday mornings at 10am, while the Girls are back on Wednesday evenings at 6pm. SENIOR: With the fate of Group Three already decided, Glenflesk made the journey to JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin safe in the knowledge that their place in the Intermediate Championship Semi Finals was secure, while their hosts had an impending relegation playoff in mind. Laune Rangers’ spate of injuries at the moment meant Rangers were without a number of players. Peter Crowley, Jack O’Connor, David Costelloe and John O’Shea accompanied Kieran Crowley and Michael O’Sullivan on the injury list. Glenflesk, for their part, lined out at full strength as they looked to keep their team settled ahead of the Semi Final. As there was nothing on the line in this game, the game was played at an intensity far from what is expected in Championship football. Ian Roche got enough of a fist on a high ball to put the ball into the net for a Glenflesk goal in the 4th minute - the first score of the game. Dáire Cleary kicked Rangers’ first point, but Glenflesk were intent to keep their momentum going and led by 1-5 to 0-2 with a quarter played - Colm O’Shea with Rangers point and Jeff O’Donoghue, Ian Roche (free), Stephen O’Donoghue, Cian Horan and Darragh Roche (free) scoring for the visitors. The visitors pointed twice through Jeff O’Donoghue & Chris O’Donoghue in the second quarter, while Rangers responded with frees by Colm O’Shea & Fiachra Clifford and a Dáire Cleary point that just flashed over the crossbar. Half time Score Laune Rangers 0-5, Glenflesk, 1-7. The second half was very one-sided, however. Daniel O’Brien & Ian Roche pointed to increase Glenflesk’s lead, but substitute Cian O’Shea responded with a point for Rangers. Lee O’Donoghue scored two goals to really end the contest, and also added a point while Fiachra Clifford pointed to leave Glenflesk leading by 3-10 to 0-7 with a quarter to play. Glenflesk hit the net for their fourth goal from the penalty spot through Darragh Roche who also added a point, while Rangers slotted the final three scores of the game with points from John Tyther (an excellent 45 into the breeze), Cian O’Shea and Patrick Carey (free). Full Time Score was Glenflesk 4-11, Laune Rangers 0-10.

MINOR: Laune Rangers remain in the hunt for a Semi Final spot in the County Minor League Division One following victory over Killarney Legion in JP O’Sullivan Park on Friday evening. After both sides had missed early chances, Rangers scored the first point of the game through Eoin Clifford, before two quickfire goals had the hosts ahead by seven points after just five minutes - Ronan O’Shea & Shane Doona both tapping in from close range following good work at the edge of the square on both occasions by Eoin Evans. Legion replied with two points (1 free) before Rangers scored their third goal of the game - Dáire Cleary collecting a nice Kevin Fitzpatrick pass before setting off on a 40 yard run and finishing to the net. A pointed free by Legion saw Laune Rangers leading by 3-1 to 0-3 with a quarter played. Shane Doona added two excellent points & Legion responded with a point of their own before Rangers fourth goal of the game - Gabriel Griffin getting forward to finish following an excellent piece of skill to offload the ball by Dáire Cleary. Legion began to put some good play together late in the first half, and scored three points to Rangers’ one (through Ronan O’Shea) but these scores were cancelled out by a fifth Laune Rangers goal - Daragh O’Connor striking to the net this time. Legion added a late point to leave Laune Rangers heading in at the break with a sizable lead. Half Time Score was Laune Rangers 5-4, Killarney Legion 0-8. Laune Rangers introduced Eoin O’Sullivan for his first appearance of the season into a midfield that had already been doing very well in the first half, and his presence was felt immediately with the winning of the throw in that fed the ball upfield for a Dáire Cleary point with the first play of the second half. Mark O’Connor pointed an excellent free from a difficult angle but, following an extended period of play in the middle third of the field, Legion got downfield to score a goal of their own. Following a relative dry spell in scoring by the home team, Dáire Cleary pointed a free to see Rangers lead by 5-7 to 1-8 with a quarter to play. Legion added two further points in the final quarter, as Rangers introduced substitutes who all contributed and brought fresh impetus in the latter stages. Matthew Leslie looked very comfortable making the step up to Minor football and scored three points, while Dáire Cleary also added a brace to his tally. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 5-12, Killarney Legion 1-10. Kerry Minor David Mangan was leading figure throughout the game at centre back while behind him, Sean Arthurs put in a solid shift at full back aided by his corners Evan Madden and Rory O’Connor. Older O’Connor brother and team captain Daragh O’Connor put in a great shift while his fellow Senior team member Dáire Cleary was exceptional once again, and the return of Eoin O’Sullivan adds greatly to the team. Laune Rangers face Cordal/Scartaglin in the final round of the League & is a rematch of the County U16 Division 1 Final of two years ago. Rangers currently occupy one of the Semi Final places but will in all likelihood need a result from the last game to progress. The game takes place on Friday at JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin. Laune Rangers: Jack Evans, Rory O’Connor, Sean Arthurs, Evan Madden, James Hurley, David Mangan, Gabriel Griffin (1-0), Kevin Fitzpatrick, Daragh O’Connor (1-0), Ronan O’Shea (1-1), Dáire Cleary (1-4, 1f), Eoin Clifford (01), Mark O’Connor (0-1f), Eoin Evans, Shane Doona (1-2). MINOR FIXTURE: Laune Rangers host Cordal/Scartaglin in a crucial final round fixture in the County Minor League Division 1. UNDER 16 BOYS: Laune Rangers Under 16 Boys played their first home game of the season on Monday, defeating Castlegregory in the Central Region League Division One. There was very little between the sides in the opening quarter, as Castlegregory pointed from the opening possession. Laune Rangers had to wait until the fifth minute for their first score, but it was worth the wait Gearoid Hassett collecting possession on the left flank before setting off along the sideline and then cutting in to beat three defenders and hit the bottom corner of the net. Matt Leslie pointed for Rangers but it was soon cancelled out by a Castlegregory free. Rangers were awarded a 8th minute penalty as the only way to stop Gearoid Hassett’s run was to haul him down inside the square, but the resulting spot kick taken by Matthew Leslie was saved by Castlegregory’s goalkeeper. Castlegregory made full use of the momentum shift, pointing a free before scoring a well taken goal to take a two point lead. However, Jack Healy responded with a point, before Marc Clifford palmed home Rangers’ second goal from a pass across the square by Gearoid Hassett. Hassett scored a point to increase Rangers’ lead to three, but Castlegregory equalized as an effort at a point came back off the post to an attacker who found the net. With 15 minutes played, the sides were level at 2-3 a piece. Laune Rangers went ahead again in the 18th minute with another excellent goal that was finished by Gearoid Hassett after being worked out from a short kickout through half the Rangers side. This seemed to take the wind out of the sails of the Castlegregory players, and Rangers added six unanswered points in the second quarter through Callum Russell (2), Calum Moriarty, Matt Leslie (2) & Gearoid Hassett - all of the highest quality from either long range, an acute angle or both. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 3-9, Castlegregory 2-3. Laune Rangers continued to push on straight from the restart, as Calum Russell finished a nice move for the team’s fourth goal, and Gearoid Hassett completed a hat-trick a minute later to effectively end the game as a contest. Points by Matt Leslie (3) and Gearoid Hassett were answered by two Castlegregory points, while the visitors netted their third goal from the penalty spot to leave Rangers leading by 5-13 to 3-5 with a quarter to play. Gearoid Hassett & Matt Leslie (2) continued to put the scoreboard operator to work with further points - Leslie’s last point a super effort from long range bringing his personal tally to 8 points (7 from play) but these scores were cancelled out by a fourth goal by Castlegregory after some nice play. Another pointed free would be the visitors’ final score, as Marc Clifford and Rory O’Connor added points late on for Rangers. Full Time Score was Laune Rangers 5-18, Castlegregory 4-6. Laune Rangers: Jake Reenstierna, Cathal Crowley, Matt Reenstierna, Niall Fenton Toms, Sean Cleary, Darragh Mangan, James Byrne, Calum Moriarty (0-1), Rory O’Connor (0-1), Mikey O’Donnell, Matthew Leslie (0-8, 1f), Callum Russell (1-2), Jack Healy (0-1), Gearoid Hassett (3-4), Marc Clifford (1-1).
