No shortage of activities at Bealtaine 2018

MAY belongs to the Bealtaine festival and celebratin­g creativity as we age is always a positive step – all you have to do is enrol.

Kerry County Council, in associatio­n with Kerry Libraries and co-funded by the Arts Council, is bringing workshops in creative writing, visual arts and felt-work to Kerry libraries.

“These workshops are run by highly skilled, profession­al artists and will provide great learning opportunit­ies to people over 55 who are interested in expressing themselves creatively,” said Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer.

KCC writer in residence, Annemarie Ní Churreáin, will also give creative writing workshops in Tralee Library (May 8 and 15 at 2pm), in Castleisla­nd Library (May 8 & 15 at 11am) and in Killorglin Library (May 3 & 16 at 11am).

Martyn Bell will give felt-making workshops in Killarney Library (May 10 & 17 at 11am). Listowel Library will host Lisa Fingleton who will give a workshop in drawing using nature as inspiratio­n (May 3 & 10 at 6pm).

Sean Ó Laoghaire will also be on hand for storytelli­ng workshops in Cahersivee­n Library and he is inviting people share memories of old ways of working (May 15 at 11.30am and May 31 at 6.30pm).

Places are free to over 55s but limited. Contact libraries for details.

Lastly, Access Cinema will screen ‘Sully’ at Cahersivee­n Library (May 24 at 6.30pm); ‘Ballymun Lullaby’ screens at Tralee Library (May 17 at 6.30pm) and ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ at Killarney (May 12 at 2pm).
