Fashion show does it again for Fossa pupils

- By TADHG EVANS

FOSSA National School has this week signalled its deep appreciation for the €2,000 it received courtesy of the Killorglin Charity Fashion Show.

The funds will go towards a sensory garden at the school, which has two classes for students with Autism.

Vice-principal Linda O’Donoghue this week explained to The Kerryman that such funding is invaluable.

The handover of the cheque for €2,000 was overseen this week on the school grounds by organisers of the show including Fiona Hyde, Kathryn Shaw, Liane Dee, and Ruth O’Grady in the company of students and staff of the school.

The school has benefited from the show in recent years with funds from it going towards the sensory room and cooking equipment for the students. Ms O’Donoghue expressed heartfelt thanks on the school’s behalf.

“We are very much in debt to the gratitude shown by organisers such as Fiona Hyde and all those who help us,” Ms O’Donogue said. “We received €2,000, which is the kind of money we could never have dreamt of.”

“We have received funding from the Department in the past, but it only goes so far. It went towards priority matters.”

“But works like our sensory room and the upcoming sensory garden are vital for these students as well. One of our retired teachers, Niall Keogh, will be very much involved in the setting up of our sensory garden.”

“I really cannot express how much the funds like those we received as one of the beneficiaries of the Killorglin fashion means to us here in Fossa National School.”
