Don’t forget to ‘Run (or walk) the Rock’ this Bank Holiday Monday

-

A SPECIAL event will take place on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 7 at 11am when ‘Run for the Rock: The Paul Lucey Memorial Run/Walk’ sets off from Connolly Park. It’s shaping up to be a fabulous event with walkers and runners from all over Tralee and beyond set to take part.

Paul Lucey sadly passed away in December 2017 and his loss was felt by so many people who knew and adored him. Paul was a GAA icon, not just in his beloved Mid Kerry and Austin Stacks, but also across the football divide where Paul’s warm and friendly personality made him an instant favourite.

To honour Paul’s memory, the Austin Stacks GAA Club is hosting ‘Run for the Rock’ which is a 10k or 5k walk/run option. It promises to be a wonderful occasion and is open to all ages, abilities, walkers and runners, while it’s also nailed on to be a great family event.

A native of Caragh Lake, Paul’s list of achievements, both as a player and manager, is longer than the famous street itself. But one of Paul’s greatest strengths was his ability to influence and encourage those around him to succeed. The club held the launch of the event back in March which was attended by his friends and family on an emotional evening.

Paul’s son, Niall, said the family are honoured with the event and he called on everyone to come out and support it. “We are delighted to be associated with this run and we encourage as many people as possible to dig out their runners and take part in this event,” he said.

Registration is now open at www.eventbrite.ie under ‘Run for the Rock the Paul Lucey Memorial Run’.
