Club delegates asked for feedback on new Club Championships

- BY JASON O’CONNOR

WITH the Club Championships approaching their conclusion following the new format agreed for playing them in 2018, delegates were asked at Monday night’s County Committee meeting for feedback to be given to the next meeting on the running of them along with proposals on any changes clubs wish to be considered for 2019.

Also at the meeting Assistant Treasurer Joe Crowley informed delegates that a draft of the county’s next Strategic Plan will be presented at the August meeting for consideration while Mr. Crowley also said that the District Board Review group hope to commence visitations to District Boards in the autumn.

Mr. Crowley also informed delegates to ensure that any nine-year old players they are registering are properly entitled to be registered with the club in advance and that any incorrect registrations will be dealt with should they come to light.

In relation to the County Junior Leagues, co-ordinator Christy Killeen said that at present entries were down from 44 teams last year to 25 this year but there were six new clubs entering teams as part of that 25.

In the report on Scór, meanwhile, while congratulations were given to Kerry clubs on their recent successes in the All-Ireland events, disappointment was expressed at the absence of acknowledgement to Munster’s contribution to the movement in the outgoing Scór Chairman’s remarks at the recent All-Ireland Senior Finals in Sligo.

Mr. Killeen said the matter has roots in a disagreement about adjudication and said that the matter will be pursued by the province at national level in due course.

A presentation about GPDR (Data Protection) was given to delegates at the Meeting while vice-chairman Diarmuid Ó Sé also spoke about the progress of the present Jobs Taskforce Group that he is overseeing.
