Ardfert retain their IFC status

COUNTY IFC RELEGATION PLAY-OFF SEMI-FINAL Ardfert 2-12 Gneeveguilla 1-11

ARDFERT’S Group 2 campaign was an odd one. They lost all their games – one of those in somewhat controversial circumstances – but were never uncompetitive. It wouldn’t have taken much for them to turn one of those defeats (more so the first two to John Mitchels and Dromid Pearses) into victories.

When they faced off against Gneeveguilla last weekend with their intermediate status on the line it was hardly a surprise they were able to deliver the goods. For their part Gneeveguilla couldn’t quite carry on the good form they showed in beating Templenoe over the following two weekends.

They now await a relegation play-off final at the beginning of next month against either Brosna or Laune Rangers (who play this weekend).

COUNTY PJFC RELEGATION PLAY-OFF SEMI-FINALS St Pats 3-12 Ballydonoghue 0-19

BALLYDONOGHUE are having a really torrid time of it at the moment. They lost all their group games and they’ve lost their opening two games in the County League. Had you told them before last weekend that they would score nineteen times to St Pats fifteen times they would have imagined that victory was going to be theirs.

Alas that’s not how it turned out. They were cut open for goals on three occasions by a St Pats side who too would have been smarting to find themselves in a relegation playoff. The Blennerville side have now retained their status, while Ballydonoghue will have to play a relegation final against Annascaul.

Listowel Emmets 0-18 Annascaul 1-8

A DIFFICULT couple of weeks for the Emmets has drawn to a close on a positive note with an impressive victory over Annascaul in the relegation play-off semi-final last weekend.

With some of their key players – Conor Cox and Niall Collins – playing really well they ran out seven point victors over an Annascaul side who are now starting down the barrel of a gun. They face another North Kerry side in the relegation final and do so off the back of some pretty patchy form. Ballydonoghue will probably be marginal favourites for the game.
