2018 O’Donoghue Cup to be launched this Thursday evening

THE launch of Dr O’Donoghue Cup, Fr Galvin Cup and Owen O’Sullivan Cup takes place this Thursday at 8pm in Gleneagle Hotel Green Room.

EAST Kerry / Kenmare Under 8 Go Games will be starting the first week in May.

All Coaching Officers have been given the groups. It is important that all host clubs plan for the event making sure all club pitches are booked in advance. The games can be played on any day.

The host club must contact all teams playing at the host venue. St Brendans College TY students should be used to referee the matches. The aim of the blitzes is to promote fun and participat­ion.

EAST Kerry and Kenmare schools took part in the county mini sevens on Thursday in Tralee.

The games were played in Austin Stack Park and John Mitchels. The standard of football was superb with all group games competitiv­e. Faha NS girls team played with great spirit to reach the semi-final losing to a strong Duagh NS team. Knockanes NS boys team performed really well reaching the county final.

Ballonagh NS team won the decider by the narrowest of margins. Realt Na Mara Tuosist NS boys and Kilgarvan Central NS girls teams played well on the day showing the high standard of competitio­n in the county.

Under 13 Club Skills

THE East Kerry / Kenmare club Under 13 Skills competitio­n took place during the week.

The format was a team of three players with all scores to count. Eoghan Ruadh tournament took place in Gneeveguil­la with Rathmore (David McCarthy, Cian Twomey and Ciaran Collins) performing well. Spa (Kelvin O Sullivan, Timothy Moynihan and Luke O Neill) showing great promise.

The Kenmare competitio­n was a tight affair with the local club team emerging victorious (Darragh O’Connor,

Darren Alman and Vaughan O’Brien) performed well on the day.

The East Kerry event was staged in Firies with Listry (Daniel Evans, Cathal O’Donoghue and Padraig O’Donoghue) showing excellent skill levels on the day. Thanks to all clubs for the use of pitches to run the events. Best of luck to all teams in the county final on Thursday, May 3.
