Robert is a winning weight watcher

-

WEARING your favourite football jersey might not seem like much of a deal to most people but to one Listowel man it means the world.

In fact, it even resulted in a national title for him this week! Listowel’s Robert Slemon is the toast of the Weight Watchers community in Ireland currently after his story and the selfie he took to illustrate it moved colleagues across the nation.

It’s a simple image: a selfie of Robert in his most beloved strip: the Liverpool jersey. It’s a striking picture as just a few months ago he wouldn’t have been seen without a coat, as he was self-conscious about his weight.

“The reason I chose to put this photo forward is because it means so much to me. For the past 11 years I never wore a t-shirt in public. I always wore a coat, even on the hottest days of the year!” Robert said. “Since joining Weight Watchers in January it has massively changed my life.”

With determination and the support of coach Rita Holly –who also runs classes in Castleisland and Tralee as well as Listowel – he shed an incredible two stone and three pounds.

“I’m finally able to wear t-shirts without feeling weird and self-conscious. After losing two stone, three pounds, I bought my first Liverpool jersey and am proud to wear it without a coat. It’s all down to Weight Watchers and my coach Rita Holly who makes each and every class worth staying for.”

Robert’s shot won in the Wellness Photography competition. Rita said all in Weight Watchers are incredibly proud of Robert’s great achievement and hope it will inspire other men to join.
