COISTE NA NOG U-14 HURLING ‘C’ FINAL South Kerry 3-4 Tralee Parnells 1-3

SOUTH Kerry captured the Coiste na nOg Chiarrai U-14 Hurling C title for the first time last Monday in Abbeydorney.

From the first minute, it was clear that South Kerry meant business this year and had last year’s heavy loss to the same opposition on their minds and were not to be out done this time.

Early on, the South Kerry’s midfield partnership of Cormac Rowe and Michael Dennehy gained control and dominated for the entire game. However, Tralee Parnells were first to register a few scores with a point and then a good goal but South Kerry reacted quickly with a goal to show they were up for it this time.

South Kerry continued to show good team spirit and fight and battled hard for every ball. Goalkeeper Sean Finnegan was confident all through and looked very comfortable in possession.

Their defence stood firm through-out with solid displays from Eoghan Kelly, Ben O’Carroll, David O’Leary, Ross O’Leary, Darragh O’Connor and Jack O’Donoghue.

Up front, Luke Crowley at wing-forward had a great game, winning every ball and working hard all through. Team captain Charlie Keating, at full-forward, even though hampered by a knee injury, played his part also and contributed significantly with fourpoints when it mattered most.

Others to impress with their work-rate were Sean Guerin, Matthew Fogarty, Hugh Walsh and Caoilte O’Cronin. Ciaran Collins, Jack McGuire and Nathaniel Doncel looked impressive also when introduced, also contributing greatly.

Overall, it is a great win for this team and well done to the entire panel for a fantastic team effort. Congratulations also to their Mentors, Timmy Hourigan, Donal Casey and Denis Coffey.

South Kerry, by virtue of this win, now qualify for the Feile Finals in Connaught in June.

They will represent Kerry for the first time in their history in the Feile Festival of Hurling and will be travelling to Claremorris in Mayo on the weekend of June 8-10. This will be a fantastic experience for everyone and no doubt a few fundraising events will be taking place over the next few weeks. SOUTH KERRY: Sean Finnegan, David O’Leary, Ben O’Carroll, Jack O’Donoghue, Ross O’Leary, Eoghan Kelly, Darragh O’Connor, Michael Dennehy, Cormac Rowe, Sean Guerin, Charlie Keating, Luke Crowley, Caoilte O’Cronin, Matthew Fogarty, Hugh Walsh.
