LAUNE RANGERS

-

SENIOR: Laune Rangers have survived in the Intermediate Championship following victory over Gneeveguilla in the relegation playoff in a sunny Lewis Road, Killarney on Sunday afternoon. Half Time Score: - Laune Rangers 0-7, Gneeveguilla 1-7.

Colm O’Shea opened the second half scoring with a long range free. Rangers went on to secure the win.

Full Time Score: - Laune Rangers 1-13, Gneeveguilla 1-11. Having lost 9 starting players from last year’s team, & losing Peter Crowley for most of the club championship campaign, it was a tough month for Rangers in the club Championships. However, a massive silver lining in this particular dark cloud is the number of young players coming through into the Senior team -- Dáire Cleary, Daragh O’Connor and Seán Arthurs are all members of our current Minor team and have all made an immediate impact, while Darragh O’Sullivan has joined Patrick Carey and Fiachra Clifford from last year’s Minor team in the starting lineup. Indeed, only 4 players over 25 took part for Rangers on the day. The stand out player for Rangers was John Tyther, who covered the whole park, and his move to centre back for the second half allowed Peter Crowley move to midfield and drive forward from there. Best for Gneeveguilla was Cornelius Buckey, who finished with 1-8 on the day (0-4 from play), while Pa Warren and Eoghan Lawlor stood out from the back division.

Laune Rangers: - Jason Browne, Ronan Sayers, Jonathan Carey (capt), Cormac Johnston, Patrick Carey (1-0), Peter Crowley, Neil O’Brien, Shane Daly (01), Darragh O’Sullivan (0-1), Daragh O’Connor, Jack O’Connor, John Tyther (0-1), Fiachra Clifford (0-4, 2f), Colm O’Shea (0-5, 5f), Dáire Cleary (0-1). Subs: Seán Arthurs for O’Brien, Pierce Tyther for Sayers, Cathal Doyle for P Carey (bc rep).

They scored an unanswered 2-5 in the first nine minutes and never looked back from there. Dr Crokes played better in the second half, but Laune Rangers put in a fluid performance, with a couple of players coming into the team on the night and a number of positional changes throughout the game. Laune Rangers =91Blue’: Adam Carey, Tim Mangan (0-1), Aona O’Shea, Cathal O’Callaghan, Killian Spillane, Ciarán O’Sullivan, Eoin Lynch, Adam Owens (0-9), Ryan Diggin (0-2), Darragh O’Grady (0-3), Eoghan Hassett (2-6, 2f), John Tuohy (0-1), John Burke (01), Cillian Foley (2-2), Jack O’Sullivan (1-6, 4f).
