SFAI SKEECHERS U-14 REGIONAL FINAL Listowel Celtic 1 St Brendans Park 2

FOR this Park team it’s their second Regional win in-a-row as they were the Under 13 winner last year.

Played in ideal conditions on a perfect pitch at Pat Kennedy Park, Listowel, it was expected before the game that there would be very little between these sides and so it proved.

But it was The Park that were on the front foot from early on and the Listowel Celtic defence and ’keeper had to stand strong on a number of occasions with Aisling Kelly doing a very good job on the Park danger man Messiah Chirwa.

However, they were breached in the 20th minute when a very good Park move saw Cianan Cooney finish low to the net to put the Tralee side 1-0 up.

Listowel Celtic did not drop their heads and upped the tempo.

It did look like they would go in 1-0 at the break but in the 38th minute they drew level. After sustained pressure a Robert Stack corner was finished to the net by Aoife Horgan.

The second half continued with both sides playing great football thrilling the big crowd that were enjoying the game as much as the sunshine. Both sides had chances to win in and indeed both sides also hit the crossbar.

In the end it was the Park that won it with a very good goal from Cillian Murphy to continue what is turning into very impressive season who are still in the hunt for a number of other trophies. While Listowel Celtic will be disappointed they also have had a good year and their day will come.
