KO Cup win for Avenue after 17 penalties

GREYHOUND BAR KO CUP QUARTER-FINAL Mitchels Avenue 2 Listowel Celtic 2

(Mitchels Avenue won 9-8 on penalties) MITCHELS Avenue’s great season continued when they advanced to the semi-final of the Greyhond Bar Cup with a penalty shoot out win over Listowel Celtic.

With the game deadlocked 2-2 after 90 minutes it went to the dramatic shoot out and a vital save by Chris Hegarty in the shoot out ensured his side took the laurels at the end.

In regulation time Lorcan Seymour scored for the winners and the other goal was an own goal.

With Inter Kenmare gone down there is a close fight for survival between Listowel Celtic, Tralee Dynamos and Mastergeeh­a.

DENNY DIVISION 1A QPR 4 Ballyhar Dynamos 1

QPR are the new league leaders in this division after a comfortabl­e win over Ballyhar Dynamos on Friday evening. The star of the show for the winners was Mark Reen who scored all four goals for the East Kerry side. They are now on the verge of making it to the decider as 3 points from their last two games will clinch a place in the final. Shane O’Donoghue was the Ballyhar scorer and their best players were Dan O’Shea, Padraig Shanahan, Anthony McKenna, Kevin O’Sullivan, Diarmuid Brosnan, Padraig O’Connor and Jordan O’Connor.

DENNY YOUTH LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL Killarney Celtic 2 Castleisla­nd 1

KILLARNEY Celtic booked their place in the Youths League Final on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over Castleisla­nd. Both of Celtic’s goals were scored by Lee Downing. They play The Park in the final which is a repeat of the Jimmy Falvery Memorial Cup final.
