Saying ‘I do’ to a smaller wedding is just perfect...

-

WE hear a lot these days about how weddings need to be ‘bigger and better’ which is all well and good except it precludes the growing market for couples who just want to have a small wedding. There are many advantages to having a smaller wedding and chief among them is quality over quantity.

Numerically, the less guests you have the more you can invest on a quality five course meal, expensive champagne and wine, luxury chocolate and floral arrangements. Such extravagance for 400 guests just wouldn’t be feasible, whereas a wedding of say 50 to 100 people allows couples to spend a little more on quality.

Another advantage of a small wedding is location and venue. With a small guest list chances are you’ll be able to afford a more exclusive venue, which is less of an option the higher your guest number is. The logistics around arranging a destination wedding is also easier. Destination weddings allow couples to spend some quality time with guests in the days after the wedding. This can be part of skiing holiday, hill walking adventure, fishing trips or just a weekend shopping extravaganza.

But one of the most important advantages of a small wedding is the time you and your partner will be able to spend together on the day. To be fair, we’ve all heard of the wedding couple who hardly had a moment to themselves during their big day. A wedding is one of the fastest days in the life of a couple and sometimes you can regret not having spent more time with people. This isn’t a problem when you’ve only a handful of guests.

There are countless reasons why people prefer smaller weddings and believe me there are more pros than cons once you know what best suits you. More couples are now realising the benefits of staging small, cosy weddings surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
