ITS history stretches back to the 1970s, and given its ongoing popularity, it might be fair to presume there will be many more years of the Killarney Athletic AFC 7-a-side tournament.

The Killarney Credit Union-sponsored event returns on June 25 to the club’s grounds in Woodlawn and, as always, will light up the summer over the weeks thereafter.

As is the way of the tournament, there’ll be a wide range events, with competitions for Senior Men; Over-35s; Ladies; and under-age boys competitions for under-10s, under-12s, under-14s, and under-16s.

The club is ready to bestow the Premier and Reserve Cups, as well as the Kieran Cahilanne Senior Player of the tournament award. The underage equivalent of the Kieran Cahillane prize, the Johnny Heffernan Award, will also be there for the taking.

“Killarney Credit Union is proud to be the main sponsor of this event”, Killarney Credit Union Chairman Pat Sheehan said. “We would like to wish the organisers and all participants the best of luck in this year’s soccer tournament.”

Entry forms must be returned to Killarney Credit Union, with a 12pm, June 9, closing date for senior entries. A deadline has yet to be set for the underage competitions. The draw takes place at 9pm in Scott’s Bar on June 13. Forms and all further information is available from www.killarneyathletic.com.
