DREAMS do come true as John McCarthy and Ozdeniz Koyun from Kenmare have found out that they have been chosen for the Munster Under-16 Development Squad.

The two teenagers will now spend their summer training in a bid to further develop their fledging rugby careers.

The two boys are students at Pobailscoil Inbhear Scéine and both play with their school team and with Killarney Rugby club. They also played at under-age level with Kenmare Rugby Club.

The two Kenmare students are among six Kerry teenagers chosen for the Munster Under-16 Development Squad and are looking forward to the opportunity to hone their skills.

An intensive training schedule is in place and both will be under scrutiny during their summer programme to see if they can progress their careers and continue with Munster.

“It will be down to the very best,” John said. “We will be watched all summer and at club games, and then it will be more trials.”

John is the son of Flor and Mary McCarthy. Ozdeniz Koyun is the son of Ergin Koyun (Effie) who is from Turkey and Xiao Manchen (China). Both are de- lighted with the huge opportunity and are determined to do their school, club and county proud.

And, who knows, maybe one day they could be lining out for Munster Rugby or the Irish team.

Coaches for the boys include John O’Sullivan, Con Crowley, and Ray Gadsen and they are very proud of the boys achievement.
