Preparations are warming up for last Wren/Dean walk
CANCER support charity Recovery Haven Kerry is calling on walkers to put their best foot forward this July 21 as they host the annual – and final – fundraising walk from Tralee to Castlegregory in memory of west Kerry men Jamie Wren and Mike Dean.
Over the past seven years, the fundraiser has raised in excess of €95,000 for a number of cancer charities across Kerry, all done in honour of two very special men who devoted their time to helping charitable causes.
With that in mind, those involved in this year‘s event are appealing to walkers to come out in force on July 21 to really make the final walk the biggest and best yet.
As in previous years, walkers will leave Tralee’s Aquadome at 10am sharp (parking in The Brandon Car Park), travel to Curaheen for a brief stop-off, then move on to The Junction Bar in Camp for refreshments, after which walkers will travel on to the Seven Hoggs for a brief stop.
They will finish up at Maurice Fitzgerald’s Bar in Castlegregory for a BBQ, live music and plenty of celebrations.
For those living in Castlegregory and its environs, a bus will leave the village for Tralee on the morning of the walk, while anyone living in Tralee can avail of a return bus back to town that evening.
Organisers Mary Lynch and Sandra Finn also pointed out that there will be a bus travelling with the walkers on the day for anyone in need of a break along theroute.
The women are keen for as many people as possible to come out in support of this event, which raised an incredible €18,000 for Recovery Haven last July. Sponsorship cards are now available from Recovery Haven Kerry in Tralee or from Sandra (0838421418) or Mary (0871332179).
