Tralee-based startup wins major prize
A TRALEE-BASED start-up has won the ‘Best Social/Sustainable Start-up in Ireland’ at the seventh annual National Start-ups Awards.
MyAccessHub, co-founded by Killarney natives Miriam O’Sullivan and Gearoid Kearney, won the prestigious award having developed an e-learning platform, alvrCloud, with the aim of changing workplaces through education and awareness of neurodiversity. This is a term covering dyspraxia, dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyscalcucia, tourette syndrome, and more besides. Gearoid has a degree in computing from IT Tralee, while Miriam has a Masters in Autism from the institute.
The company was also selected as one of 25 companies across Europe and the MENA rgion for the Change maker X change summit in Amsterdam this July.
“We are thrilled to be recognised with the award at such an early stage of our business and sincerely thank the judging panel that included representatives from Bank of Ireland and Enterprise Ireland for the honour,” Gearoid of myAccessHub said. “With an estimated 10 per cent of the global population presenting as neurodiverse, we are committed to developing solutions that empower workplaces and businesses to remove the barriers that prevent people who are neu- rodiverse from being successful employees and satisfied customers.”
‘It’s been an incredible journey,’ added co-founder Miriam O Sullivan. ‘Our solution has just launched and already we are working with leading national and international businesses to implement solutions that will enhance the work experience for both their employees and customers.’
