Holiday homes make great long-term investments

-

KERRY’S coastline is dotted with old farmhouses and new builds that offer choice and value as holiday homes and there is no such thing as a bad time to consider investing in one.

Of the national share, Kerry has around 13 percent of builds classified as holiday homes. But even in one’s own county a holiday home represents a great opportunity to obtain a retreat on your own doorstep.

One of the advantages of living in Kerry is that even a short journey to the coastline can seem like you’ve travelled to another world given its beauty. More and more people are catching on to the idea of shorter breaks closer to him which minimises the time it takes to get to and from a destination.

Holiday homes are bang on trend again as the concept of ‘little and often’ is fast overtaking the more traditional ‘2-weeks abroad’ holiday. Sourcing a holiday home offers freedom and a sense of immediacy whenever you feel like a short break. Think about it: a short drive to the coast for a weekend away will recharge those bodily batteries quicker than a three-hour flight to a destination that no sooner have you arrived when you need to head home again.

Understandably, the domestic property debate dominates much of the discourse right now but buyers should be on the lookout for that once in a lifetime retreat. Part of the reason we holiday is to reduce stress and having a destination that’s only ‘out the road’ might well represent a better overall purchase.

Holiday homes closer to home are also a great way of ensuring easy access to recovery time, especially as you grow older as it mitigates the need for longer travel. The dream holiday might be closer to home than you think.
