Win put Templenoe fifth

DESPITE trailing by two points at the break, Templenoe managed to put in a strong second half display in seeing off the challenge of Rathmore by six points on home turf. John Moynihan for the visitors nearly got in for the game’s first goal but Anthony Sheehan was on hand to deny him as Teddy Doyle combined with Brian Crowley for the former to get the first goal for the hosts. Moynihan did manage to get the better of Sheehan a second time however to make the game 1-3 to 1-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Six consecutive Rathmore points would follow from six different players as both Doyle and Crowley would manage to bring Templenoe back within range before the break in trailing by 1-7 to 1-5.

The hosts scored 1-3 without reply after the restart to retake the lead as Stephen O’Sullivan scored the goal that had them ahead by 2-8 to 1-7. One further scoring burst from Rathmore had a point between the sides however Killian Spillane frees and two points each for Pat Spillane and Cian Hallissey were enough to send the hosts onto a six point win.

The result means that both sides are mid-table with five points, if either of them have am- bitions on getting into the final picture they need a really strong second half of the campaign to force their way into such a scenario.
