Kilcummin edge out Gneeveguilla in Division 5 final

EAST REGION U-16 LEAGUE DIVISION 5 FINAL

Kilcummin 3-8 Gneevguilla 2-10

A GREAT game, played in Spa, saw Kilcummin win the Division 5 Final, East Region Ubder 16 League, against Gneeveguilla.

Gneeveguilla opened with 1-1 by Shane Warren. Kilcummin replied with a Cian Foley goal and three points (Darren Lehane (2), Philip O’Leary). Gneeveguilla’s Shane Warren pointed - Kilcummin led by a point 1-3 to 1-2 within 15 minutes.

Three Kilcummin points (Philip O’Leary, Cian Foley, Darren Lehane) to one for Gneevguilla (Paudie O’Leary) saw half-time score: Kilcummin 1-6 Gneeveguilla 1-3.

On resumption, Gneeveguilla pulled ahead with Pauric Finnegan goal and points from Shane Warren, Ronan Collins and Damien Cronin. Kilcummin replied with 2-1 (Darren Lehane) to lead by three at the three-quarter stage.

Exchanges were tough but fair. With five minutes remaining, Gneevguilla levelled (Shane Warren (2), Ronan Collins points). Philip O’Leary edged Kilcummin in front with a point.

Shane Warren equalised in the 27th minute. A Dara Lehane free in the 30th minute, put Kilcummin up one. Gneeveguilla tried hard to equalise but Kilcummin held out. Sean O’Keeffe, East Region Coiste na nÓg, presented the trophy to Kilcummin captain Darren Lehane.
