DENNY PREMIER B Killarney Celtic B 3 CSKA Tralee 1

THIS was a crunch game in the relegation battle and Killarney Celtic took a gigantic step towards relegation survival after a crucial win over CSKA Tralee.

Keelin Deegan 2 and Ryan Kelliher scored for the winners. The sides meet again this Wednesday evening and if Celtic win they have a great chance of avoiding the drop while a loss for CSKA could condem them to relegation.

DENNY DIVISION 1A Atletico Ardfert 0 CG Killarney 3

CG Killarney clinched their place in the league final after a win over Athletico Ardfert on Sunday.

John Foley, Joe Donovan and Tadhg Fleming scored for the winners with assists from David McSweeney, Joe Hurley and Sam Treharne. Their best players were Johnny Murphy, Mike Murphy and Frank Cronin. CG have come a long way over the past 10 years and manager Darragh O’Regan is delighted they have made it to the final. The Killarney side are still waiting for their first silverware.

They got to the Division 1B final six years ago, but lost to Listowel Celtic B. However, they have come a long way since then and their commitment and dedication has won them much admiration from clubs around the county.

They lost just one game in the entire season which was a great record and they have very consistent form going into the final. Their opponents in the final has not yet been decided.

It all goes down to the final game of the season between QPR and Ballyheigue Athletic which takes place at Mounthawk Park on bank holiday Monday June 4 with a 6.30pm kick off.

A draw will be good enough to see QPR into the final while a win for Ballyheigue will put them in the decider.

DENNY DIVISION 1B

WINDMILL United edged closer to reaching the league final with a crucial win over Castlemaine.

Gary Savage scored both goals for the Blennerville side while Cathal Moriarty scored for Castlemaine. A win in their final game against Asdee would put them in the final.

This division is coming to an exciting conclusion with a few huge games over the next two weekends. At present Windmill are on top on 34 points with one game to play against Asdee Rovers. A win here would put them in the final while a draw would ensure a play off at the very least.

Listowel Celtic are second three points behind on 31 points, but they have a game in hand against Castlegregory. Celtic need a win against Castlegregory in their final game to stay in the title race.

Castlegregory and Asdee are joint third on 29 points, but they have two games in hand over the table toppers. Castlegregory’s remaining two games are against Asdee and Listowel Celtic B and if they win both they are in the final.

Asdee are in the very same position needing wins against Castlegregory and Windmill.

A huge game in the title race takes place at Mounthawk Park on this Friday evening when Castlegregory and Asdee Rovers meet in a game both sides need to win so it is virtually a cup final.

The kick-off is at 7.30pm.
