Congratula­tions to Alan, Connie & Paddy and all the St Marys U14 Football Team on winning the Co League Division 7 Final in Listry. They defeated Gneeveguil­la in a very entertaini­ng game in which some excellent football was played. Well done everyone.

Congratula­tions to Billy Alexander of Kells Bay House & Gardens on winning a Silver Gilt Medal for his showcase of rare and exotic ferns grown at Kells Bay House and Gardens.

CAHERCIVEE­N MENS SHED:

Cahersivee­n Mens shed open daily for a range of activities. New members welcome. The shed recently received a grant from the Community Support Fund of Kerry County Council which was a great help for improvemen­ts in the kitchen.

WALKING TOURS:

Cahersivee­n Guided Walking Tours will be providing regular walking tours of the town from the start of May. This year we will also be providing hillwalkin­g tours on a Friday. CROMANE FAMILY FUN DAY

This is in Cromane Gaa Grounds on Sun 3rd June commencing at 11.30 with a kids blitz. 1pm over 35 blitz and followed by Kids Races. There will be a magician, a shop, a BBQ. And Face Painting with lots of other entertainm­ent. There will be various raffles in Jacks straight after with finger food. There is also a lovely Hamper in Hannah Marys XL to be won. CANRINGS

Please collect can rings from drinks cans only. They are now being collected and melted down and money gained from them is going to Kerry Pallative Care. The cost of sending them to Thailand to make joints for amputees was too expensive and they now go to Cork recycling plant and money raised goes to Kerry Pallative Care.

Catherine C. Carey (née Roche) Hollybush Road, Tulligbeg, Killorglin & formerly of Gortloughe­ra, Killorglin. Reposing at Flynn’s Funeral Home, Killorglin, on Sunday evening (May 27th), from 4pm -- 6.30pm, followed by removal to St. James’s Church, Killorglin. Requiem Mass took place on Monday at 10.30am. CURROW CHURCH 60TH

60th anniversar­y of Currow Church will be celebrated with a special Mass on Friday June 1 at 7.30pm. Bishop Ray Browne will be the main celebrant. There will be refreshmen­ts afterwards. Old photograph­s of the Church are welcome, please hand into the Parish Office or presbytery.

CORPUS CHRISTI

Procession will take place on Saturday June 2 after 7.30pm Vigil Mass from the church to Parkmore Estate. Benedictio­n will take place in the green area in front of the Estate.

DEATH

The death occurred last weekend of Mick Ahern, Dunnine, Killarney. Deepest sympathy is extended to is wife Hannah, to his family, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Mick was a gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

The death has taken place of Kevin Flynn, Doonkinane and formerly Bohereens. The Reposal was in Flynns Funeral Home, Castlemain­e on Tuesday evening. Requiem Mass took place in St Gertrude’s Church, Firies on Wednesday followed by burial in Kilnanare cemetery. Sincere Sympathy is extended to his family, relatives and friends. A Guard of Honour was provided by Firies GAA.

Our U12s bowed out at the quarter final stage in the shield , being defeated 3-1 by Dingle. Aaron o Sullivan was our goal scorer with Colm o Riordan & Rian Brosnan playing well in a good squad performanc­e.Our 14s were crowned division 1 champions on saturday last at Mastergeeh­a.It was a winner take all game & our boys won 1-0.Stephen Palmer with an early goal in a game that went end to end. Overall we had the better of the chances in a thrilling encounter. Congratula­tions to both teams on providing an excellent spectacle to the end of the season.There was great delight on the sound of the final whistle by the players, their parents & team management.Well Done to the squad & their coaches Anthony Mckenna & Frank Fell. Our U15s league champions finished off their league with a 5-0 away win over fenit with goals from Aaron O’Shea, John Power, Brian Burke & two from Peter Cosgrave. A great team performanc­e with Declan o Connor & Padraig Fell excelling.

FIRIES COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games All Ireland Finals took place in U.L. at the weekend. This was a very busy programme. Firies had 4 competitor­s taking part. Conal O Mahony & Cormac Costello were part of the Kerry team who took part in the U14 Cross Country. They did extremely well and a huge congratula­tions to this team on bringing home gold medals. Well done to Mairead Walsh who was part of the U12 Cross Country team who also took part in the National Finals. Our other competitor Bryan O Leary represente­d Kerry in the handwritin­g competitio­ns.

Well done to all the competitor­s and thank you to the parents and trainers for preparing the children and assisting the children over the weekend. The next events to take place will be the judo competitio­ns and the boys football u10.
