Killarney Celtic and Iveragh win U-12 Cups

-

KILLARNEY Celtic Green proved too strong for a gallant Camp Juniors side in the U-12 Girls Cup final. Camp Juniors held out for about 15 minutes but Celtic scored twice in quick succession and really there was no way back. Celtic added a third before half time and then three more in the second half.

The Celtic goals came from Leah McMahon, Fianna Bradley, Ellie May Nugent, Lucy O’Sullivan, Elizabeth Coffey and Player of the Match trophy winner Katie Doe. Killarney Celtic captain Leah McMahon dedicated her side’s win to their team mate Amy O’Connor who passed away earlier this year.

The Boys final was a much tighter affair which ended with Iveragh United taking their first ever Cup win. The South Kerry side started the better and took the lead in the ninth minute through David Kennedy. They then added the vital goal in the 24th minute through Thomas O’Brien.

Credit to Killorglin they through everything at Iveragh in the second half and pulled one back when a Stevie Gannon shot was parried and Andrew Owens knock in the rebound.

Killorglin came within inches of grabbing an equaliser but Adam Kelly who was named Player of the Match made a great headed clearance from under the crossbar. Iveragh United survived to take a historic win for the club.

U-12 SHIELD

GOALS from Danny Coffey, Ciaran Nagle and Liam Horgan plus an own goal were enough to give Mastergeeha a 5-3 win over Killorglin C in the John Murphy U-12 Shield semi-final to set up a decider with Dingle Bay Rovers, which took place last Monday.

U-13 SHIELD FINAL

WITH Tralee Dynamos through to the John Joe Naughton U-13 Shield final the question in midweek was who would join them.

And it took penalties to separate Dingle Bay Rovers and Killarney Celtic C with the West Kerry side progressing 4-2 after the spot kicks. James Hoare got the all-important goal in normal time for Dingle Bay to cancel out a Cian Russell lead goal for Celtic.

And it the same player that gave Dingle Bay the ideal start to the final when he scored after 17 minutes to put his side ahead. However the Tralee side turned things around before the break by scoring twice to lead 2-1. Thomas Quilligan got the first and Liam Moroney the second for Dynamos.

Dingle Bay made a great effort to draw level but the Dynamos defence soaked up the pressure and then when they got their opportunities they took them with Evan Quilligan and Cody O’Brien added the goals to wrap up the win for Dynamos and the collected their Shield from Michael and Tommy Naughton on behalf of the family. Dingle Bay Rovers Paddy Ryan was named as Man of the Match

U-14 SHIELD FINAL

CASTLEISLAND booked their place in the John Murphy U-14 Shield final thanks to a 3-1 away win at Killorglin B. There goals came from Ryan Dennehy, Patrick O’Shea and an Alex Kepp penalty. John Burke replied for Killorglin B.

Killarney Celtic B saw off Inter Kemare at Celtic Park thanks to goals from William Harty and Tim O’Brien who both scored two each and Cormac Rowe and Gary Wynne who got one each.

U-14 CUP

DIVISION 2 side Fenit enjoyed a great run to the John Murphy 14’s Cup but came up against one of the top sides in the Premier who had already won the Regional Cup and reached the semi-final of the National Cup. As expected once the Park scored a couple of early goals there was no way back for Fenit but to their credit they never gave up.

The Park’s goals came from Messiah Chirwa, who was named Player of the Match, Cillian Murphy, Cianan Cooney, Colin Doody and Ciaran O’Connor.
