A TITANIC EXPERIENCE

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

NO trip to Belfast is complete without a trip to the Titanic Experience, aptly located in the city’s Titanic Quarter.

The museum is considered the leading Titanic visitor experience in the world with visitors able to explore the history of the famous ship through nine different interactive galleries, walk the decks of the sole remaining White Star vessel in existence – the SS Nomadic – and finishing off the day with a dining experience in the museum’s sublime Bistro 401.

Located in the same shipyard in which the ship was built, visitors to the museum will find themselves transported back in time as they take a tour through the history of the ships building on the electronic dark ride, explore artefacts, exhibits, models and CGI imagery showing the ships famous and plush interior.

For those of you looking for something that little bit extra, make sure to explore the symbolism of the iconic Titanic Belfast building through the centre’s award-winning walking tour. This one-hour Discovery Tour will will help you explore the history of the famous Harland and Wolff shipyard and drawing offices where both Titanic and her sister ship, Olympic were both designed.

The Titanic Museum is open daily all year round, excluding December 24 to December 26; opening hours range from 9am to 7pm in the summer months of June and July and from 9am to 8pm in the month of August. PS: For all ‘Game of Thrones’ fans out there, the studios where the show is filmed is located right behind the Titanic Museum.
