KCFE honours its students at first awards night
IT was a wonderful evening for students, parents and teachers alike at the Kerry College of Further Education (KCFE) campus last Thursday night, as students were rewarded for their efforts over the school year.
The awards night was the first awards night to be held under the guidance of first year Principal Mary Lucey and close to 40 awards were presented on the night.
The KCFE is an institution on the up and that is in no small part to Mary’s guidance and the work of her staff; Mary spoke on the night about her pride at seeing both the students and teachers achieve their goals.
“I’d like to welcome all the students here tonight. This is your night and we are so delighted with all the success that you had here since joining us,” said Mary.
“I have been here eight months now and it has been an absolutely wonderful time since I arrived. I’ve never met a more caring, hard working and supportive staff. I’m sure too that the students will re-iterate that,” she continued.
“Here at KCFE, we want to make it so that people don’t have to leave Kerry to get the high quality education they need,” she finished.

Some of the awards presented on the night ranged from Academic Awards such as Hotel Operations (Jenny Watton), Carers (Gary Hewitt) and Software Development (Bryan O’Shea).
A sample of some of the other awards which were presented on the night included the ‘2018 I Can Do’ award which went to Clodagh Mangan; the 2018 Achievement Awards which went to Cathal Carey, Annie Burke and Anna Healy, the 2018 Volunteer of the Year award which was presented to Samuel Kiwanuka and the 2018 Rising Star Award which went to Paul Sheerin.
