Children at Gaelscoil Faithleann in Killarney are showing their caring side by organising a walk in aid of the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA).

Working in conjunction with the Parent’s Council, a small group of the children from fourth class, are leading the charity initiative and are calling on the public to support them this Sunday, June 10, by coming along to their walk.

The children have planned and promoted the walk themselves and have educated other classes in the school about the work of the ISPCA in a bid to raise funds for their chosen charity.

Secretary of the Parents Council, Mary Carroll, says that it is wonderful to see the children taken on such an initiative.

“The children have been so enthusiastic and dedicated to planning the walk. It great to see that an idea one of them had lead to this event. It’s great to see children take the initiative and support a cause to help make a difference.”

Mary Carroll continued: “The walk is a fun day out for families and we welcome all families to come along. There will be a trivia quiz for families to complete as they walk, face painting and refreshments will be provided. All donations on the day will go directly to support the work of the great work of the ISPCA.”

The walk will leave the Castlerosse carpark at 12pm on Sun June 10, and will follow the circular route via the demesne and back to the car park, where there will be face painting and refreshments. People are welcome to bring their dogs but we ask them to make sure they are on a lead.
