FIT4LIFE

Our fit4life training program concluded last Friday evening with up to 40 members running the 5k distance. Well done to everyone who took part, especially those who were running 5k for the first time. It was great to see the progress that these runners have made over the previous 8 weeks. Hopefully this has sparked a love of interest in running and will see people continue to run with the group which meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings throughout the year. Thanks to everybody who helped out during the 8 weeks and to everyone who supplied and served the refreshments post run. Thanks also to Kissanes Shop who supplied the bottled water which was well appreciated on a very warm evening.

CORK CITY MARATHON

The Cork City Marathon took place on Sunday 3rd June with a record number of over 8500 runners taking to the streets of Cork. Despite the humid conditions Gary o’ Hanlon of Clonliffe Harriers AC set a new course record of 2.21.09 while Zola Flynn of Calry AC in Sligo took the womens title. Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers won the Half while Clare Gibbons McCarthy of Leevale AC won the womens event. Well done to all our club members who took part in the Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay. In the marathon we had Thomas Bubendorfer who was pacing 3.30 and Susanne Foley who continues her great year with another PB. Fred Foley and Siobhan Falvey had very good runs in the half while our relay team of Margaret Foley, Linda Galvin & Norma McHugh did very well in the Marathon Relay.

TRAINING

Juvenile training takes place each Saturday from 11am to 12 noon at the Dragons Den Killorglin. Juvenile training also takes place each Wednesday from 4.15pm at Beaufort GAA pitch. Fit4life takes place every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 7.30pm at the Church car park in Beaufort.
