Lisa McHugh and Mike Denber to entertain Brosna on big night of county and dancing

-

A COUNTRY Music Concert and Dancing Festival is being arranged and greatly anticipated in Brosna on Friday evening, July 13.

The Square in Brosna Town – or most of it – will be covered by a marquee on the occasion and the organisers are promising four hours of dancing to two of Ireland’s biggest Country Music stars. The doors will open at 6pm on the evening, and Lisa McHugh, with a full band, will play from 7pm to 9pm. She will be followed by Mike Denver and a full band from 9pm to 11pm.

The marquee will have full bar facilities and there will be free on-site parking no more than a two-minute walk away.

Patrons will be accommodated on the night with a top-class dance floor, and there will be a limited number of seating spaces available. The event is being organised by the Brosna and Knockaclarig Church Restoration Fund Committee.

The Church of St. Carthage in Brosna underwent an extensive programme of refurbishment work which was completed in 2009.

A handful of miles away in Knockaclarig is the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption which was opened on May 26, 1953.

This Church is having its heating system overhauled with a new gas installation along with a paint job and re-carpeting.

“We need to bring Knockaclarig up to date as it hasn’t been touched for a while, and this round of work is badly wanted here,” said committee chairman, John Murphy.

“We’re inviting people who enjoy a good night out and a great night’s dancing to come to Brosna and dance to their heart’s content to Lisa McHugh and Mike Denver.

“We’re expecting a huge crowd as we had Mike Denver here last December in a marquee during very bad weather, and he drew over 800 people from all over the place,” said John.

Tickets for the night are on sale in Brosna and Knockclarig and in the parish offices in Castleisland and Abbeyfeale; in Walsh Electrical in Castleisland; in Sheehy’s Hardware, in Slice of Life and Leen’s Hotel in Abbeyfeale; Dillane’s Shop in Feale’s Bridge; The Devon Inn in Templeglantine; Kerry Agri, Mountcollins; and in O’Connor’s Hardware in Duagh. Tickets are €25 each. For ticket enquiries you’re advised to ring 085 78 00 639.
