All steam ahead for second round of the County Hurling Championsh­ip

ROUND 2 of the 2018 Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry County Senior Hurling Championsh­ip [Corn Neilus Ó Floinn] will take place this weekend.

All games at Austin Stack Park. On Saturday, June 30, Ballyheigu­e meet Kilmoyley at 5.30pm (this fixture will double up as a County Senior League game) with the losers exiting the competitio­n. This will be followed at 7.15pm by the meeting of Ballyduff and Crotta O’Neills.

On Sunday, 1 July at 4pm St. Brendan’s take on Abbeydorne­y with the losers exiting the championsh­ip. At 6pm Lixnaw play Causeway.

County Leagues

IN the last series of games in the County Senior Hurling League, Division 1 (Round 7) last weekend Causeway maintained their 100% record and top the table with a 3-18 to 1-12 win over Crotta. At Ballyduff, the home side drew with St. Brendan’s, 1-17 each. On Sunday evening at Lixnaw the home side had a 3-22 to 2-14 win over Abbeydorne­y. This leaves the semi-final line up as Causeway v Ballyduff and St. Brendan’s v Kilmoyley.

County MHL

ROUND 2 of the Co. Minor Hurling League fixtures for Monday week, 9 July, 7.30p.m.-Division 1A: Ballyheigu­e/Causeway v Kenmare/Kilgarvan; Abbeydorne­y v Crotta O`Neills. Division 2A: Tralee Parnell’s v Lixnaw; St. Brendan’s v Kilmoyley; Ballyduff bye. The Co. Minor Championsh­ip Round 1 is fixed for Monday, 13 August.

Cúl Camps

THE 2018 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps for Hurling in Kerry get underway on Monday next, 2 July at Ardfert & Rathmore until Friday, July 6. Children may register on the first morning of each Camp.

The cost for 2018 remains at €60 per child with reductions for additional members of families. Open to primary school children, boys and girls between 6 and 13 years of age. Monday’s to Friday’s, 10am-2.30pm daily. Further details at www. kelloggscu­lcamps.gaa.ie

Coiste na nÓg

IN the preliminar­y round of the Co. Under 16 hurling championsh­ip Lixnaw defeated South Kerry by 8-8 to 1-5 while Kilmoyley had a 6-12 to 1-21 extra time win over Tralee Parnells.

The Plate quarter-finals will take place on Friday, July 13 with both the Cup and Plate semi-finals on Friday, July 27. The finals will be played on Friday, August3.
