Glenflesk qualify for junior league final in style

EK JUNIOR LEAGUE Glenflesk 2-15 Scartaglin 0-4

GLENFLESK qualified for the final of the East Kerry junior League Division 2 with a comfortabl­e win over Scartaglin at Barraduff Community Field.

Leading by seven points to one after the first quarter Scart were then reduced to fourteen men making their task even more difficult. Stephen Lacey continued his goal scoring run with a well taken goal just before the break. Halftime Glenflesk 1-8 Scartaglin 0-2.

Glenflesk played some great football at the beginning of the second half and quickly put the game out of sight. There second goal was a cracking effort from Liam Warren who along with Colm Tobin were the stand out players on the night.

Garda Blitz

TWENTY teams took part in Fitzgerald Stadium This competitio­n is played between primary school mixed teams.

The standard of football was superb with great skill levels on display. Holy Family NS Rathmore secured victory with a polished team display defeating a gallant Duagh NS team.

Eddie Walsh deserves huge credit for organising the well run event supported greatly by his fellow work colleagues. The level of sportmansh­ip combined with great football was well received by a large attendance on the day.

Go Games

THE East Kerry/Kenmare U10 Go Games blitzes were competed this week.

Many thanks to all host clubs for running the games. The standard of football was excellent with great sportsmans­hip evident at all blitzes. St Brendans College students provided great support to all clubs which was much appreciate­d. Vince Cooper East Kerry/Kenmare GDA provided excellent assistance to all clubs during the blitzes

Top team in each group to advance to final. Second team to play third in each group play in semi-finals. Ties at the end of group phase will be decided by Head to Head in league game. (Not score difference). If playoffs are necessary they will be played immediatel­y after 12:45 games. Five minutes per half.

We will then have a break for refreshmen­ts before our Team Parade where Tea, Coffee, Water, Sandwiches, buns, fruit, biscuits etc will be provided free of charge. A chip van will also be at the venue for anybody who wants to spend some of their pocket money.

After the Team Parade we will have our .semi finals at 2:15 approx.
