CG boss over the moon at victory

-

SPEAKING after the game the manager of the CG Killarney side Darragh O’Regan said he was delighted with the win.

“We showed great improvement from the drawn game and the communication among the players was brilliant. We won a lot of turnovers during the game and could have nicked a couple of goals.

“Joe Hurley and Gary Cassidy were excellent at midfield and John Foley was superb up front. The entire squad grafted hard throughout the game and we passed the ball around well and were very positive and creative. The winning goal was great and Mike Daly was very brave to keep going and finish it off.

“We also played some good football and no one will begrudge us this win as we have worked very hard to make it happen. It was nice to hear John O’Regan at the presentation of the cup to say that our game was the best final of the three played today.

“All the lads have been totally committed throughout the season and their self belief won the day for them at the end. We played a lot of games during the season and we are not finished yet as we are in the semi final of the Dominos Pizza Reserve Cup against Castlesland and this game will be played next Sunday.

“We will celebrate our win now and face into the semi final with a lot of weight lifted off our shoulders. We have played 31 games so far this season and to win the league final is a dream come true and the players deserve it.”

He paid tribute to QPR and said their day of glory is not too far away either. He said they were also looking forward to playing in Premier B next season.
