SUCCESS FOR PIPE BAND

Killorglin & District Pipe Band picked up a Marching and Dress Prize at the South of Ireland Championships, held in the grounds of Mallow Castle on 2nd June. They then played at the Christy Hennessy Tribute Concert at the Gleneagle and were well received by the audience and Hennessy Family alike. On their next outing, they will travel to New Ross on 7th July to take part in the All Ireland Pipe band Contest.

New members are always welcome and can meet them at practice any Tuesday or Thursday evening at the Manor Inn Killorglin

AMBULANCE DEPLOYMENT POINT NEEDED

A Kerry County Councillor has called on the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, the Health Service Executive and the National Ambulance Service to provide an Ambulance Deployment Point in Killorglin to service the greater Killorglin area and vast Mid Kerry Region, where the population dramatically increases during the summer season.

Councillor Michael Cahill said the Minister should prioritise an Ambulance Deployment Point for the region and should deal with it as a matter of extreme urgency.

I believe a vast region that includes Killorglin, Milltown, Keel, Castlemaine, Cromane, Glencar and Glenbeigh warrants such a service, ‘stated the Rossbeigh Councillor.

DANGEROUS OVERHANGING TREES

A Member of Kerry County Council has called on the Local Authority to ensure that all hedges and overhanging trees are cut, particularly along the narrow, dangerous sections of the county’s main Tourist Routes, the Ring of Kerry road and the Killarney to Dingle road. Councillor Michael Cahill again highlighted the matter at a recent meeting of the South and West Kerry Municipal District where he said overhanging trees and overgrown hedges were a very real Health and Safety concern for all Road users. I believe the Council should take ownership and responsibility of this matter and ensure the safety of all Road users by cutting all roadside hedges and overhanging trees in the county stated Councillor Cahill.
