1. TRALEE RUGBY CLUB TO HOLD FIRST ‘STRICTLY’

THE Tralee Rugby Club will hold its very first ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next week in Ballyroe Heights Hotel.

The night of dancing will take place on Friday June 29 and it will see 11 couples take to the dancefloor in a bid to impress Judges Kevin Finn, Ciara Griffin, Siobhán Fleming and Mike Keane.

2. BAKE SALE AND COFFEE MORNING FOR IAN O’CONNELL

A fundraisin­g bake sale for the Ian O’Connell Trust will take place this coming Saturday June 30 after the 7:30pm mass in the recreation­al hall in Kilcummin.

Another fundraisin­g coffee morning will then take place the next day Sunday July 1from 9:30am until 12:30pm - this will also take place in the recreation­al hall.

3. CASTLEGREG­ORY TO HOLD QUIZ FOR FENIT RNLI

THE members of the Castlegreg­ory ICA Guild and their friends will hold a coffee morning in aid of the Fenit RNLI lifeboat services this coming Saturday June 30.

The coffee morning will run from 10am to 1pm and it will be held in the large clubrooms.

Come along with your friends and enjoy some refreshmen­ts, while supporting a very worthwhile cause.

4. DEBUT OF THE TRALEE SQUARE MARKET

THE rejuvenati­on of the Tralee town centre continues this week with the start of the new Tralee Square Market.

This new market will be held every Thursday from June 28 to August 16 and will feature live music from local musicians, artisan food producers and craft makers.

The market will run from 10am until 6pm.

5. KILGARVAN TIDY TOWNS TO HOLD TABLE QUIZ

KILGARVAN Tidy Towns will hold its annual pub quiz next Friday June 29 at 9pm.

The quiz will take place in each of the three pubs in the village - O’Reilly’s, Rogers Bar and the Healy Rae Bar; it will cost €10 per person to enter and there will be four people per table.

There will be raffle prizes on the night and there will be a DJ afterwards in the form of Kevin Healy Rae.

6. SWIM FROM SLIP TO SHORE IN BALLYHEIGU­E

THE annual ‘Slip to Shore’ swim takes place in Ballyheigu­e this coming Sunday July 1.

This will be an open water 2km swim which will finish on Ballyheigu­e Beach; registrati­on takes place at the beach car park from 3pm to 4:30pm with the swim itself starting at 5pm sharp.

It will cost €10 to enter with all proceeds going to the inshore rescue.

7. CONCERT FOR SLIABH LUACHRA RETIRED NETWORK

A VARIETY concert in aid of the Sliabh Luachra Active Retired Network will take place this Friday June 29 in the Lyreacromp­ane Resource Centre.

Doors for the concert will open at 7pm and the show itself will start at 7:30pm. Tickets are set to cost €10 and are available to buy by calling 087 413 8934.

8. EXCITEMENT AHEAD FOR VINTAGE RALLY

SUNDAY, July 8 sees the annual Mid Kerry Vintage Rally return to Brackhill, Castlemain­e. Everything from steam engines, threshing machines, lines of old tractors, cars and trucks; vintage farm machinery, a butter making machine, old style hand tools - you name it, if its vintage, it will be there on the day.

Now in its 7th year, over €100,000 has been raised through the event for cancer support services in Kerry. It starts at 12:30pm.

9. CLIMB FOR ‘CONCERN’ TAKES PLACE NEXT WEEK

THE ‘Climb 4 Concern’ charity climb is taking place next month and the charity are inviting as many members of the public to take part in the challenge as possible.

The challenge will see people climbing Carrauntoo­hill on Sunday July 7. Registrati­on for this climb is just €25 while the minimum sponsorshi­p needed to be raised for the event is €100.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old. People can register and print off their barcode at parkrun.ie.
