The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Spraoi Chiarraí to move out in the sun
THE third of Spraoi Chiarraí’s seven concerts takes place outdoors this weekend, with an afternoon of traditional fare from 2pm at Killarney House.
A showcase of young talent, the series is nearing its 15th anniversary and continues to excite.
Saturday’s billing runs for two hours, with banjo-player Sean Kelliher accompanying accordionist Thomas Barrett on the day.
Also, guitarist, vocalist, and bodhrán-player Tim O’Shea, the producer and director of Spraoi Chiarraí, will be joining them on the afternoon.
Mary Philpot and some young set dancers will also do more than chip in through providing their own entertainment at an event is free and open to all.
With support from Kerry County Council Arts Office, Killarney Chamber of Commerce, and the Kerry Gems publication, this is one of two open-air events on the series’ schedule, the second of which takes place on August 18.
There are three further indoor, 8pm concerts scheduled for July 21, August 4, and August 25.
