Killarney ready to celebrate the USA
AMERICAN festivities make their way across the Atlantic today as Killarney celebrates July 4.
The town will embrace all things American, and Killarney Festival Committee Joint Chairman Ollie Favier said the main aim is to bring atmosphere to the town while celebrating its good rapport with the US.
The celebrations commence at 3pm with the raising of the American flag by Councillor Niall Kelleher and Chamber President Mike Moynihan at Killarney Town Hall.
There will then be a carnival, with street barbecues, brass bands, cheerleaders and Disney characters entertaining until 7pm.
The standout event of the day, The Big Parade takes place at 7pm from the Outlet Centre car park, filling the streets of Killarney with life and colour.
Following the big parade there will be a screening of “Dirty Dancing” in an outdoor screen on the grounds of Killarney House.
Of course, the celebration is not complete without the spectacular fireworks display, taking place at 11.15pm.
