KATE MCINTYRE

ON Wednesday,June 9, the sudden death occurred in Valencia, Spain, of Kate (Kathleen) McIntyre (née Curran) of Killiney, Dublin, and originally of Chapeltown, Valentia Island. She was pre-deceased by her father, John, and brother, Paul. Her remains reposed at the Patrick O’Donovan and Son Funeral Home, Sallynoggi­n, on Thursday, June 21, followed by removal from her home on Friday morning, June 22, to the Church of the Assumption, Dalkey, with her funeral taking place after Requiem Mass to the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematoriu­m, Harold’s Cross, Dublin. Sincere sympathy is extended to her husband, Peter; daughters, Sinead and Eimear; sons-in-law, Fernando and Sean; her mother, Teresa; brothers, Kevin, Tony, Sean, Seamus; and sister Siobhan. Sympathy also to her childhood friends on the banks of the Caol River in Chapeltown, Valentia, who sported, played and went to school with her and who were deeply shocked and saddened by her untimely death. NORA MURPHY

ON Wednesday, June 20, the death occurred at Cork University Hospital of Nora Murphy (née O’Sullivan) of Barrack Hill, Portmagee,who was predecease­d by her husband, John, and son, James. Nora, originally of Sussa, Ballinskel­ligs, who would have been 88 this July, was very well-regarded in the area, for her friendly demeanour and kindness extended to neighbours and friends. She emigrated to New York in her younger days and, having returned to Portmagee, married John ’’Barrack’’ Murphy in 1952. She took a very keen interest in local sporting activities, and her family members were very involved in rowing and the Skellig Rangers GAA club. A woman who loved animals and never shirked family farming duties, she lived life to the full and was also a keen Liverpool soccer fan, even visiting the famous ground at Anfield. Her proudest sporting moment came when her beloved Skellig Rangers won the All-Ireland Junior Football Championsh­ip in 2009, her son, Paul, managing the team. Nora’s Funeral Mass was celebrated in St Patrick’s Church, Portmagee, and she was subsequent­ly laid to rest with her husband, John, in Kilmore Graveyard, Valentia.

BROTHER THOMAS O’SULLIVAN

ON Friday, June 22, the death occurred at the Cowper Care, St Patrick’s Centre, Baldoyle, of Brother Thomas O’Sullivan (Fiacra), who was a Christian Brother and originally of Cahirsivee­n. He was predecease­d by his sisters, Mary and Noreen; and brothers, John, Michael, Timothy and Daniel. Br Thomas was laid to rest in the Blessed Edmund Rice Cemetery, Baldoyle. Sincere sympathy to his brother Paddy (Chicago); sister-inlaw, Peggy; nieces; nephews; grand-nieces; grand-nephews; great-grandniece­s; greatgrand­nephews; relatives; friends; fellow residents; and Brothers in Religion.
