The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
A Tingle Syndicate success
THERE was joy for members of the North Kerry-based Tingle Syndicate at Kilbeggan on Monday night as Listowel jockey Kevin Brouder partnered Directional to victory in the Grenville Arms Hotel Mullingar Handicap Hurdle for Athea trainer, Eoin McCarthy.
It was a seventh career success for Brouder who had his mount to the fore heading into the home straight. Despite being less than fluent over the final obstacle, Directional did enough to score by three parts of a length at the inviting price of 10/1.
Owned by the Tingle Syndicate, Directional’s latest success comes on the back of a 10 length success in the point to point sphere at Ballingarry earlier in the month.
Speaking after the race, McCarthy paid homage to winning connections.
“I picked him up for £800 at Ascot two years ago and I’m delighted for the lads [Tingle Syndicate from North Kerry] who have been very patient. He won a point-to-point by ten lengths the last day and that made a man of him.”
