SLIABH LUACHRA COMHALTAS

Well done to all our branch members who took part in the County Fleadh which was held recently in Milltown.

All competitors listed below have qualified for the Munster Fleadh which takes place in Ennis from Sun 15th to Sun 22nd July.

Congratulations to our youngest competitor, Seán O’ Keeffe who was placed 2nd in the sean nós dancing competition in the 12-15 age category.

Congrats also to Mark O’ Leary on winning both the Irish and English men’s singing competitions, in the 12-15 age category.

Aoife O’Sullivan won the English singing ladies competition securing her place in Munster.

Niamh Dalton was placed 2nd in the senior concertina competition.

Sliabh Luachra set dancers also did very well. The U18 ladies were placed 2nd in their competition, dancers are; Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Michelle Brosnan, Aoife O’ Sullivan, Emma Mc Gillicuddy, Ellen Daly, Shauna Fleming, Siobhan Mc Sweeney and Gillian Casey. The U18 mixed were also placed 2nd, dancers are; Cathal Collins, Jim Brosnan, Michael Mc Sweeney, Eoin Herlihy, Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Aoife O’ Sullivan, Siobhan Mc Sweeney and Michelle Brosnan. The U18 half set mixed were 3rd recommended to Munster. Dancers are; Cathal Collins, Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Sean Doody and Ellen Daly.

The Raecaol dancers were also placed 2nd in the senior mixed competition. Dancers are; Kieran Browne ,Conor Crowley, Cathal Collins, Alan Cronin, Michelle O’ Sullivan, Joan Brosnan, Marie Sheehan and Michelle Brosnan. Well done again to everyone involved and best of luck in your preparations for the Munster Fleadh.

ATHLETIC CLUB NOTES

Lotto: No winner of our lotto draw 29/06/2018, numbers drawn were 12, 14, 25 & 27. Sellers prize winner Tom Joe O’ Donoghue, €50 Y/T prize winner Eamonn Bowler Annaghmore, €50 to Harry Reidy Bonane, €40 to Tom Fleming Scartaglen, Lil O’ Keeffe Bounard & Michael O’ Donoghue Knocknageeha. Bonus not won numbers drawn were 3, 4, 6 & 17. Next week’s jackpot €10,200 plus €1,000 bonus.

National Championships: Held in Tullamore at the weekend. Danielle & Frank O’ Riordan were competing in the shott putt. Both threw well however were not in the medals.

National Relays: Next weekend the club will contest the National U13 relay. Good luck to our team of Danielle O’ Riordan, Claragh O’ Connor, Naoise Quinlivan, Elaine McSweeney & Beth Healy.

National “B” Championships: The National “B” Championships will be contested by Sarah O’ Connor, Saoirse Tompkins, Dylan Scannell, Claragh O’ Connor, Naoise Quinlivan, Beth Healy, Frank O’ Riordan & Danielle O’ Riordan.

Summer 1 Mile Series; Our summer mile series commences this week, running at 8.00 pm each evening, registration from 7.00 pm. July 4th Barradubh, July 11th Fossa, July 18th Knocknagree, July 25th Ballydesmond & August 1st Gneeveguilla with presentation of prizes.
