TWO Kenmare businessmen have been ordered to pay €14,500 in rates to Kerry County Council after the local authority took them to court this week.

The case came before Kenmare District Court last Friday where Noreen Clifford of Kerry County Council told the court that Mark and Neil Ferron of Unit 7, Kenmare Business Park, Killarney Road, Kenmare owed outstanding rates to the local authority of €14,530.37. She said that a summons had been sent to them in March of this year and that the two businessmen are still trading.

The rates are owed up until the end of December, 2017, the court heard.

Judge David Waters asked the Council if they were also seeking costs and were told that they were seeking an outlay of €28.

He ordered that a decree be made in favour of Kerry County Council for the payment of the outstanding rates.
