The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Bus arranged to Charleville for Johnny Barrett event
A BUS has been arranged by fans of the late Charleville entertainer Johnny Barrett to his native town for a ceremony in his honour, taking place on Sunday, July 22.
There and then, a plaque will be unveiled to the memory of the singer and musician.
Mr Barrett played many dates in Kerry during a long career.
Scartaglin native and Castlemaine resident Eileen Murphy-Keating sent a note to say that the bus will leave the Brandon Hotel in Tralee at 10.30am on that morning.
It will then make a stop in Castleisland at 11:15am.
The plaque will be unveiled at 2pm and will be followed by the laying of a wreath on his grave.
Seats on the bus to this event will cost €15 each.
The cost of refreshments, which have been arranged for afterwards at the Park Hotel, is not included in the price and will be paid for by those who avail of them.
Seats on the bus can be booked by contacting Eileen on 086 1657276.
