SENIORS: Tuosist Senior footballers hosted Knocknagoshel last saturday evening in Lauragh in the Q/F of the Sheild in what prooved to be a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting encounter between two evenly matched sides. Knocknagosel led by eight points to seven at half time with Tuosists first half scores coming from Liam O Shea - 2pts (1, 45), Tadgh Sughrue - 2pts (2 frees), Daragh Sughrue, Colm Brosnan and Gary Harrington with a point a piece. Knocknagoshel opened the second half the stronger and added to their lead with a point from play followed by a goal from David Donoghue to race into a five point lead. Tuosist to their credit didn’t panic and cut the deficate to four thanks to a well taken free from Tadgh Sughrue.

This was soon followed by a rasper of a goal from his brother Daragh and a good point from play from Colm Brosnan to tie up the match mid way through the second half. Between here and the final whistle Tuosist through points from play from Daragh Sughrue, Cormac O Sullivan, Tadgh Sughrue and Liam O Shea outscored Knocknagoshel by four points to three to win by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of Tuosist 1-13, Knocknagoshel 1-12.This was an important win seeing that it was probably the first game this season that our senior mangement had almost a full panel to pick from having welcomed back a number of players from injury along with the return of some younger players who had been absent due to exam commitments.

In fact a feature of the game was the strong performance by these younger players and we look forward to seeing plenty more from them over the coming years. For full match report see the sports section of this edition.
