TABLE QUIZ RESULTS

Kilgarvan Tidy Towns ran a successful Table Quiz on Friday 29th June 2018, in each of the three village pubs, O’Reillys, Rodgers and Healy Rae’s, 22 teams competed. Congratula­tions to the winning team: Sean Daly, Conor Daly, Mary Twomey and Lucy Daly who represente­d Rodgers Bar. Two teams in O’Reillys Bar tied for second place. They were Rosie Healy Rae, Juelette Dennehy, Paudie Dennehy and Michael Shea. The second team were Gavin Malone, Garvan Kelleher, Pat Scannell and Wayne Hayes. Third place went to Thomas Reilly, Murty Galvin, Dermot Twomey and Con Traynor.

Food was supplied by The Village Grill and Healy Rae’s Mace Shop. Thanks also to the three Quiz Masters, Eammon Horgan, Tom McDonnell and Tommy Randles who very ably called out the questions and to all the volunteers who helped organise and run a very successful Quiz Night. The party rocked on into the night with DJ Kevin supplying the music.

INTERMENT

Dan Joe Quill, South Africa and formally Kilgarvan, was interred in the family plot at Kilgarvan Cemetery following Requiem Mass at St Patricks Church Kilgarvan, on Tuesday 3rd July 2018. There was a large attendance at the guard of honour organised by the Kilgarvan GAA Club. Dan Joe was an outstandin­g goal keeper. He played in goal for the Kilgarvan team that won the County Championsh­ip in 1958 and was also the Kerry goal keeper in 1957.

KENMARE WALKING CLUB

On Tuesday 17th July 2018, Kenmare Walking Club will take the Kilmakillo­ge Circuit OS 84. 0rganiser Peter O’Sullivan 087 745 0168. Meeting at Tourist Office in the square Kenmare, at 7:00pm. Rules: Everyone walks at their own risk, Children Under 16 years must be accompanie­d by Parent or Guardian, Dogs not allowed.

KILGARVAN SHOW

The 34th Annual Kilgarvan show will be held on Sunday 5th August 2018, starting at 11:00am.

The Show Classes include the following: Cattle, Sheep, Poultry, Dogs, Arts and Crafts, Finals Ecofleece Ewe Lamb (Sponsored by Osmond’s), Suffolk Age Ram (Sponsored by Kilgarvan Show), Bantry Ram, Bord Bia Potato Championsh­ip and the final of Puppy Parlour (Sponsored by Eileen Murphy). Other competitio­ns include, Best Dressed Lady/ Gent and Bonnie Baby 6/12/18 Months. Children’s Section: Include, Children’s sports, Boys and Girls, 3 Legged race, Bag race, Bouncy Castle and Slides, Bungee Trampoline, Swing Boats and Magic shows. Other events include Magic DelBoy, Bubble Soccer, Lazer Shooting, Tug of War and Sheaf Tossing. Full Bar and catering, live music from Seamus Healy 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Kilgarvan show Féis open to all children, toddlers to 14 years.
