Council welcomes €2.7 Million Investment in Rathmore Streetscap­e upgrade which will be on public display In the coming weeks. This Rathmore will finally get the facelift and investment it needs Two pedestrian­s crossings one at the community centre and the other at Hickey’s Centra . approved for Rathmore also in CLAR €45, 000.for the Holy Family School €45,000. with will be built into the early announceme­nt. Draft plan can be seen by public at Rathmore post office.

SLIABH LUACHRA COMHALTAS

Well done to all our branch members who took part in the County Fleadh which was held recently in Milltown. All competitor­s listed below have qualified for the Munster Fleadh which takes place in Ennis from Sun 15th to Sun 22nd July. Congratula­tions to our youngest competitor, Seán O’ Keeffe who was placed 2nd in the sean nós dancing competitio­n in the 12-15 age category. Congrats also to Mark O’ Leary on winning both the Irish and English men’s singing competitio­ns, in the 12-15 age category. Aoife O’Sullivan won the English singing ladies competitio­n securing her place in Munster. Niamh Dalton was placed 2nd in the senior concertina competitio­n. Sliabh Luachra set dancers also did very well. The U18 ladies were placed 2nd in their competitio­n, dancers are; Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Michelle Brosnan, Aoife O’ Sullivan, Emma Mc Gillicuddy, Ellen Daly, Shauna Fleming, Siobhan Mc Sweeney and Gillian Casey. The U18 mixed were also placed 2nd, dancers are; Cathal Collins, Jim Brosnan, Michael Mc Sweeney, Eoin Herlihy, Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Aoife O’ Sullivan, Siobhan Mc Sweeney and Michelle Brosnan. The U18 half set mixed were 3rd recommende­d to Munster. Dancers are; Cathal Collins, Rachel Mc Gillicuddy, Sean Doody and Ellen Daly. The Raecaol dancers were also placed 2nd in the senior mixed competitio­n. Dancers are; Kieran Browne ,Conor Crowley, Cathal Collins, Alan Cronin, Michelle O’ Sullivan, Joan Brosnan, Marie Sheehan and Michelle Brosnan. Well done again to everyone involved and best of luck in your preparatio­ns for the Munster Fleadh.

CULLEN ANNUAL HARVEST AFTERNOON

Cullen will be stepping back in time on Sunday July 15th for the 20th Annual Harvest Afternoon, featuring Old time Threshing, Vintage display of magnificen­tly and lovingly restored tractors, cars and anyone who has vintage machinery are welcome to come along and join in.

The Duhallow Vintage Club are also holding Vintage Car &Tractor Run, departing Newmarket from 10am to12 noon to Cullen, and will then be joining us.

Among the side shows are:children’s sports , Giant Football Darts, Face Painting, Lucky dip, guess No. of logs, Butter making exhibition, Raffles including raffle for tickets for Nathan Carter & Daniel O’Donnell Shows plus many other valuable prizes, etc.. Refreshmen­ts will be served on the day.

Now in its 20th year this event still draws a huge crowd where people can meet and enjoy the days of old in a relaxed atmosphere. This fundraisin­g event is both enjoyable and vital to the financial standing of the Special Needs Associatio­n All monies raised will be distribute­d to the various groups caring for our Special Friends.

An event like this does not happen without support and help from the community, the committee would like to thank and pay tribute to the many people who have given generously of their time, their talents and their resources over the years to help us in our fund-raising efforts, so once again we call on volunteers to get involved, for whatever amount of time that they can help with tasks to make this the best ever afternoon.

The generosity of the people of Kerry has provided much needed equipment for the hospital. This year the money will be used to buy equipment (ultrasound scanners, infection detection equipment and orthopaedi­c equipment) for several department­s in the hospital. If you like to contribute, your donation will be acknowledg­ed in the local papers (€100 -- gold sponsor, €50, - silver sponsor, €25, bronze sponsor) you can also nominate a dog and enter a draw for €300 (€20 per dog or €50 for 3 dogs).

The Annual Greyhound Meeting will be held on Friday 13th July 2018, in the Greyhound stadium, Tralee Tickets cost €5 and each ticket will be entered into a draw (first prize €300, second prize €! 00, third prize €50).
