KILGOBNET 4 MILER

The 29th annual Fr. Michael Kelliher memorial 4 mile race and walk will take place on Friday 20th July at 8pm in Kilgobnet, Beaufort. Entry fee for runners is 12Euro while walkers can pay a donation. Entries will be taken at Kilgobnet N.S..

As well as prizes for the top 3 male & female finishers there will be a souvenir medal for all finishers. All profits of this years race are going to Tir Na nOg Orphanage in Tanzania which was set up by Louise Quill who teaches locally in Scoil Mhuire, Killorglin.

GNEEVEGUIL­LA AC MILE SERIES

The first race in this series took place in Barradubh last Wednesday with 64 runners taking part. Always a very well organised event and a good opportunit­y to test oneself over this distance. Colm McCarthy of West Limerick AC was first home on the night in a time of 5.06 while first female was Shona o Brien of Gneeveguil­la AC in 5.27.

Well done to Stephen Griffin and Gillian Murphy who took part. Gillian was third female on the night and first senior female across the line. Next race takes place on Wednesday 11th July in Fossa at 8pm
